Why overlays and monitoring don't fix it

You can pay for years and still fail a screen-reader test, because these products never change the thing that's broken: your code.

  • Overlay widgets

    A toolbar loaded on top of a site that's still broken underneath. It doesn't change your code, and overlays have been named in hundreds of ADA lawsuits and an FTC action.

  • Monitoring subscriptions

    A dashboard that re-lists the same issues every month. Useful for tracking; it doesn't fix anything on its own.

  • Open-ended retainers

    Accessibility work billed by the month with no defined end and no handover.

How we do it

  • Build it in from the start

    New work is built on standards-native components, so WCAG conformance is part of the build instead of a later retrofit.

  • Remediate in the code

    For existing sites, we fix the markup, focus order, contrast, labels, and structure, then verify with assistive technology.

  • Hand it back

    You keep the corrected code and an accessible component set, and we train your team to maintain it. No license, no widget.

  • Then it's upkeep, not rent

    After that, cost is limited to real changes: new content, or a new version of the standard. Not a required, standing subscription.

One caveat

Accessibility is never fully done: content changes and the standards move (WCAG 2.2 now, more later). We don't claim "100% compliant forever." The point is where the cost lands: in the build, once, rather than a monthly bill with no end. If you do want ongoing monitoring, regression testing, or human QA on new releases, we offer that as an optional service.

Common questions

Do overlay widgets make my site compliant?

No. They sit on top of a site without changing the underlying code, and they've been named in hundreds of ADA lawsuits and an FTC action against a major vendor. We fix the code and test with assistive technology instead.

Will I have to pay a monthly subscription?

No. We fix the site once, hand you the corrected code and an accessible component set, and train your team. After that, cost is limited to real changes: new content, or a new version of the standard. Optional ongoing support (monitoring, regression testing, human QA on releases) is available if you want it, never required.

Is AI going to make accessibility automatic?

No. Automated tools and AI-assisted development help, and we use them, but they find part of the problem. We combine automated testing with manual keyboard testing, screen-reader testing, and human review, because much of WCAG depends on judgment software can't make.

Do you work with clients outside Oregon?
